Do you have a love for street wear? A passion for photography perhaps? Is drinking copious amounts of alcohol one of your favourite hobbies? If you said yes to any or all of the above then Danny Mee (on the left in the picture) is a man that you need to follow. Having started his brand Love Sick LDN some time ago, and then bringing James Humphreys (on the right in the picture) on board, they have gradually built a brand that is a force to be reckoned with. We had a chat with the main man himself to find out some more about the goings on behind the scenes. Here's how it went...

Good afternoon. Can you please give us a brief introduction...

Hello. My name's Danny Mee, I'm old as fuck and I'm the founder of Love Sick London.

In the hectic world of being a badass, what does a normal day consist of?

Coffee and just trying to keep Love Sick London as fresh as possible.

Well I can confirm that you are doing a wicked job of that. What would you say are your top three interests?

Love Sick London.

Graphic design.

It’s always good when you manage to create a career doing things that you love, and Love Sick has done just that for you. Is there anyone that you would say is a role model or inspiration of yours?

Not really got any role models, but I do get inspired by a lot of things. Living in London and the people that live here is a big one. I like to people watch.

I enjoy people watching too, it’s the worst when they catch you staring though! How did the company come about? Was it something yourself and James were thinking of for a while, or did you see a gap in the market and decide to jump in to it?

I founded the company in 2013 out of an urge to create something - a movement, a subculture. I designed our first T-shirt and I still do 90% of the designs myself. I met James in 2015 and we just become brothers. Felt like I'd known him all my life. So I asked him to come on board as a director and the rest is history.

Ah that’s awesome man. I’m glad the two of you met, you seem to be a great fit; you’ve been killing it together. Do you both share the everyday responsibilities or do you have assigned tasks? Like one will handle getting deliveries sent out and the other will be doing the social media?

Yeah we both play to our strengths. Me and my wife do the day to day - shipping, emails etc. I do the designs, then me and James will sit down and go over what will make it into the next collection. James is the guy with the gift of the gab so he books the models, chats to the companies we collab with etc. I try to keep our social media fresh by doing photo shoots twice a week.

Bloody hell, twice a week?! That must keep you mega busy, your Instagram does look super dope though so the hard work definitely pays off. You clearly like to live on the edge of being a sensible adult running a successful business and adopting the ‘fuck that’ attitude and sticking it to the world, is that something you feel has helped the brand because it shows personality or do you feel that it has turned some customers away?

Yeah it's just us being us. We want people to feel like they're a part of something and we like to party while we work. It's like what they say, “you can't please all the people all the time”, but the people we please seem to fucking love it.

Hahaha I’m not surprised they love it! Cool clothes, alcohol and not to mention the gorgeous people surrounding them, what more could a person want?! Where do you draw inspiration from for new collections? Some of the pieces you release are very minimal in design and others are much more in-your-face. Is that something you intentionally do?

I love to design the mad colourful designs, be it bold, whacky or just fun. We always try to have a mix of crazy and what I like to call your bread & butter designs.

Ye that makes good sense. Personally, I’m a fan of the more toned down designs, but I know that a lot of people love bigger graphics so you have to capitalise on both markets. How easy or difficult have the two of you (yourself and James) found it to agree on certain things? For example, what new products to introduce or what designs to go with for the next release.

Ha ha, we always fight over designs but in the end we kiss and make up, go to the pub and always walk away with a sick collection.

What are brothers for, right? If the two of you arguing means you bringing out more collections like your most recent then you should argue more often! What have you most enjoyed so far about the journey you have taken with Love Sick? And what have you enjoyed the least?

I'd say the most enjoyable part has been the people we've met and the least enjoyable is the hangovers.

It’s always great making connections. I’m pretty sure not too long ago I saw something about there possibly being Love Sick TV, is that true? And if so, when can we expect this? I’m sure I’m not the only one who would love to see it.

Yeah we defo wanna get it up and running, we've just been so busy we've not had the time. We will be getting on Snapchat a lot more now so if you guys wanna see what we're up to head over there.

Ah cool, I’ll have to make sure I add you - I definitely want to see more from you guys. What can we expect to see from Love Sick in the future? Like the new bombers you released a few collections back, do you plan on introducing any new product lines?

Got so many new goodies coming. Don't wanna let the cat out of the bag so just watch this space.

Damn, I was hoping to get an exclusive there haha. I’ll keep my eyes peeled. I know you have worked with some awesome photographers, including the man of the moment Mr Nukem - has it been working with creatives like him that have inspired you to get into photography more yourself?

Without a doubt. Haris has become like a brother and he's a creative genius.

He certainly is. I think anyone with any sense can see that Haris is the man. Considering you are a fairly new photographer what would you say has been the hardest/worst part about it? And also the best part?

I love every part of it. It's never a chore, it's always a pleasure.

That’s awesome man. You always know you love something when even the bad days are good days. Is photography something you would like to be doing for other people/brands or is it something you picked up to help with Love Sick?

I started it because I wanted to keep the brand looking fresh but it's sort of taken on a life of its own now. I’m getting a lot of people wanting me to take their photo which is sick as I'm a people person and I love faces ha ha.

I noticed that with your work, and there are a lot of faces out there! If it is something you would like to do a bit more, is there anyone, be it models, brands etc, who you hope to work with in the future?

I feel blessed to have already shot some great models. As for other brands I've not really thought about that. I'd feel like was cheating on my wife ha ha.

Hahaha, we don’t want that! Let’s just keep you shooting for Love Sick for the time being then. What has been, in the short time you’ve been doing it, your favourite shoot to be a part of?

Every time we do a Haris Nukem shoot and we get the squad together it's always a top day and night.

I’m not surprised. Travis Cross is a good friend of mine so I’ve been seeing pics from your group shoots for a while now and they are always, without fail, awesome. What is the best piece of advice you have been given, and if someone was to ask you for some, what is the best piece you can give?

Never give up.

We’re coming to an end now dude, just a couple more questions to go. Now this is a question both for the brand and also photography, where do you hope to be in 12 months time?

Sitting in our new shop with a cold beer smiling to myself.

That doesn’t sound too bad to me at all! More importantly, what can we hope to see in the near future?

More clothes, more photos, more partying, more good times.

Perfect. I was hoping that that would be the answer. Now for the fun part. We finish with some more fun questions. Have you ever...

…taken food out of a bin and eaten it? Yeah a few times.

…taken part in a talent show? Yep I was on Sky 1 ‘Must Be The Music’.

…broken something that wasn’t yours and not confessed? Everyday.

…shot a gun? Water pistol.

…had a crush on a friend's family member? My wife would kick my arse lol.
